Lucky Star-Panic Mode Activated?

Kurogane, over at his blog, has mentioned that a director change is about to happen.

Kyoto Animation posted a notice on its website that says it decided to replace Yutaka Yamamoto as director of the Lucky Star moe comedy television series with Yasuhiro Takemoto due to performance issues. Yamamoto’s last episode, episode 4, has just aired on April 29, while episode 5 is still scheduled to run on May 6 with Takemoto directing.

The new director Takemoto helmed Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu and both Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid television and video projects. The man he replaces, Yamamoto, has been an episode director on a number of series including The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Air, and Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu (the last project under Takemoto), but Lucky Star was his first job as series director. Yamamoto’s last project before Lucky Star was the 2006 television version of Kanon. His website’s contents have been removed with only a short notice in their place.

Everyone seems to be panicking over this, as they feel it will go the Negima Route. Again I will have to say. PATIENCE. The director did Fumoffu. That is not bad at all. Let’s wait and see what happens>_>.

I, sir, am one of the people you are trying to cater to. You fail at that aspect. I’d rather buy a 4kids anime on dvd than go after your one ep. high priced monstrosities. I’ll even import the R2s, if needed, to prove a point. BVUSA will NOT be getting any of my money.

Chomping down Kyo-Ani’s Throat?

I have noticed that everyone is pretty much writing off Lucky Star. I personally can’t wait to watch it, due to the Randomness of it all.  And,  give the series just a couple more episodes, as it may be a sleeper hit, just like Haruhi>_>.

BTW, Konata Izumi has now joined the growing list of “Joppy’s girls”.

Don’t give up, Anime Fans. KyoAni may have something in it’s sleeve….

Bandai Visual Brings First HD Anime to US (09:35 PM EST): A new press release has confirmed the first HD DVD release of an anime title in the US this afternoon. Bandai Visual (USA and Japan) will be launching the first Freedom OVA on 06/26/2007. The release, which will be an HD DVD/DVD combo disc, will retail for $39.99. The first of six OVA releases, it will contain the Japanese language track with English subtitles and the special prologue to the series.

Old news, but something very similar…

Bandai Visual, I can understand when  you want to pimp out the first HD-DVD release for Anime in the USA, but for only for one Episode? Waste of everyone’s time, as per usual…..

Galaxy Angel Rune Details (09:22 PM EST): Some of the specs in yesterday’s press release from Bandai Visual USA were a bit vague when it came to Galaxy Angel Rune. We’ve confirmed today that the first volume is indeed $19.99 and contains a single episode. We’ve also confirmed that the series will be in Japanese only with English language subtitles.

WTF? One Episode. I feel like we are in the stone age again. I remember VHS for one Ep. for $20. Bandai Visual, if they were gonna have me as a customer, just lost me, as they can do a heck of a lot better. R2 for this series for me!
